“You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.”
Stories are vitally important to me. I tell my clients’ stories, I share my personal successes and struggles with students I mentor.
As I try to find the words to write my first novel -- Gracefully Stumbling Onward -- and have more interviews and conversations about it, the theme of how we all stumble through life – sometimes gracefully, sometimes not – has repeatedly emerged. And the stories I have heard from people I speak with are simply awe-inspiring.
Whether it’s dealing with the illness of a loved one, launching or closing a business, getting married, having a child, getting a divorce, losing a parent, or overcoming seemingly insurmountable personal or professional obstacles, we all have compelling stories.
I believe sharing how we stumble through them can help others move onward.
“I judge you unfortunate because you have never lived through misfortune. You have passed through life without an opponent—no one can ever know what you are capable of, not even you.”
This past July -- we sadly lost my amazing wife to cancer. As a husband, father and man -- her journey will always define me. It's now part of my story of Gracefully Stumbling Onward.
