Thankful for Your Business?

Thankful for Your Business?

You’ll see it everywhere on social media this week and your email is probably already exploding with it – messages from for-profit entities saying they are thankful for your business and from non-profits saying they are grateful for your donations.

But who, as an organization, should you really be thankful for?

I argue that yes, of course, you must be thankful for the clients who walk through your doors or the donors who fund your operations, but true gratitude should go much deeper than that.

Much.

At this time of year in particular, you should be thankful for anyone and everyone who touches your organization.

That means the development company you lease your space from.

That means the vendors who sell you products and services.

That means the techs who come out to ensure that everything from copiers to heavy machinery is working as it should be.

The means your employees and/or volunteers.

That means their spouses and family members who share them with you.

If you are a school, that means your students, parents, and community supporters.

That means the folks who follow you, and like and comment on your posts on social media.

That means the friends, family and colleagues who are your organization’s cheerleaders in the community – out there mentioning you at every opportunity they get.

That means the networking groups, Chambers of Commerce and colleagues who promote you when you are too busy to even think about it.

That means each of you who is taking the time to read this blog post.

Because just as it takes a village to raise a child, I believe it takes a very broad community to support an organization that is built to last.

And this week, and always, I and my team are thankful for each and every one of you.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
